Sherrards’ Japan Desk supports Japanese businesses and individuals with UK-facing matters, and UK and European clients doing business in Japan. We combine English legal expertise with cultural understanding, practical project management and clear communication.

We aim to help clients navigate cross-border matters efficiently and with confidence, whether they involve disputes, transactions, regulatory questions, commercial relationships or day-to-day coordination between advisers in different jurisdictions.

The Japan Desk is led by Jan Kunstyr, who focuses on international disputes and arbitration, particularly matters involving cross-border commercial relationships.

Jan studied at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and holds an ISEPTUFS Diploma in Japanese Language and International Studies. His experience working with Japanese clients enables him to bridge both legal and cultural differences when advising on cross-border matters.

Jan is fluent in Japanese and regularly works with Japanese companies, investors and legal advisers on matters involving the UK and Europe.
