Stephen is a Partner in our Corporate and Commercial Team based predominantly in our London Office. Stephen advises on a broad range of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, strategic investments and emerging markets transactions, as well as the full range of commercial legal issues.
He has particular experience advising clients in the sports sector, including Icelandic football clubs and players, and has previously worked on PFA player contracts involving Premier League clubs and league-related matters.
Stephen is also a lead partner in our Sports Group, holding the team together.
Before joining us, Stephen was a Partner and Head of the London office of LOGOS Legal Services, Iceland’s premier law firm, having previously worked in the London offices of leading US firms Milbank LLP and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
Through his international practice, Stephen has developed a detailed understanding of the legal and commercial issues arising across a number of foreign jurisdictions, together with specialist expertise in areas including banking, FCA regulation, project and debt financing, and intellectual property.
Stephen’s key strengths include building clients’ trust on even the most complex transactions and acting as a long-term strategic adviser. This has led to him undertaking a variety of additional roles, including acting as Head of Legal for Kerecis during its $1.3 billion sale in 2023, widely regarded as Iceland’s first true unicorn transaction.
