Our employment team work with retail clients through all stages of the employment relationship. We understand the intricate workplace issues faced by organisations in the retail sector and appreciate that, commercial considerations are just as important as (if not more) the legal ones.

Our work covers the life-cycle of employment; from recruitment, contracts, retention, absence, performance, rewards, redundancy to TUPE, tribunals, disputes, disciplinary action, dismissal and discrimination.

In particular, we have vast experience of working with retail clients on the typical staff issues that arise in this sector, including how to deal with staff turnover and AWOL employees. We also appreciate that for retail employers, the use of zero hour contracts is prevalent. Whilst we acknowledge that they can be controversial, we realise that in this sector such contracts can, in some circumstances, be effective and useful when hiring staff members. We are on hand to guide our clients and provide them with contractual documentation which best reflects their practices and requirements.

As well as the advising on employment, we appreciate that retail clients may have immigration considerations, for instance when faced with the potential restrictions involved with the employment of international students. Our dedicated immigration team is on hand to assist when required.
