1st August 2025 | Paul Marmor | International, Academy, International Bar Association
Paul Marmor has just participated in the faculty for this year’s Academy for Leaders, which is a cutting-edge programme for law firm leaders presented by the International Bar Association’s Law Firm Management Committee.
The hosts were Moray McLaren, Stephen Revell, Stephen Bowman and Zulon Begum, with a faculty of 35 academics, lawyers in private practice and leading consultants to the legal industry. There was a brilliant cohort for 2025, made up of 30+ participants consisting of managing partners and emerging talent from across the globe, learning about all aspects of law firm leadership in the spectacular setting of King’s College on the Strand, London.
Paul Marmor chaired a panel of General Counsel (i.e. in-house lawyers embedded in corporations or banks) to provide the class with an opportunity to hear what clients really want. The panel made a great contribution and big thanks to:
- Quentin Zentner, Head of Legal at Phoenix Group
- Abhijit Mukhopadhyay, President (Legal) & General Counsel, Hinduja Group
- Francisca Montgomery, Director, Legal Counsel (Europe), Scotiabank
- Ian McDougall, President, LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation
Unfortunately, their brilliant insights are governed by Chatham House Rules.
Other special guests addressing the Academy included the legend on AI that is Richard Susskind CBE KC (Hon), telling us what AI looks like today – blink and you’ll miss the next development.
If you are a law firm leader, or heading down that path in a legal setting anywhere in the world, and want to hear about getting involved in next year’s Academy, then do reach out to Paul Marmor, senior chair of the International Bar Association’s Law Firm Management Committee, on pdm@sherrards.com.
