Emma Anderson is a Foreign Qualified Lawyer with over 10 years’ experience as a Barrister. Originally from, and having qualified in South Africa, she joined Sherrards in 2020 and specialises in Insolvency & Restructuring and Corporate & Commercial Litigation.
She was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and a member of the Johannesburg Bar Association in 2008. She served as a member of the High Court Committee and assisted in the training of Pupil Barristers. Emma was accredited as an Arbitrator with the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa in 2016 and remains a Panel member of the Foundation.
Emma was briefed by leading Private Banks and Corporate Funding Banks throughout her time at the Johannesburg Bar.
Emma was instructed and appeared in the case of Budge NO and others v Midnight Storm Investments 256 (Pty) Ltd and Another for the applicant. This case created the precedent in winding up of solvent companies under the Companies Act 2008 in South Africa and remains the leading case.
