Marta Grieve, Partner & Head of Russia and CIS desk at Sherrards, attended the XII Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona on 24-25 October 2019 on an invitation of Otabek Akbarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Italy (pictured below with Marta, far right).
The Economic Forum in Verona is an important platform for discussion between businesses and governments from over 30 countries and is supported by major global players from East and West. The forum was intended to deepen the economy of trust and business diplomacy from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
During her time at the forum, Marta also attended a satellite event dedicated to large infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan and held various B2B meetings with state officials and business representatives. She, alongside all attendees had greetings and blessings from the Pope who “hopes that all interaction and developments of the dialogue between the various international economic speakers would be dealt with responsibly and in the commitment to favour the well-being of the people.”
Vladimir Putin greeted the forum and stated; “I hope that the proposals and initiatives developed during the forum will be implemented, allow us to discover more fully the unique potential of Eurasian integration and contribute to the realization of the idea of the formation of the common economic and humanitarian space from Lisbon to Vladivostok.”
Sherrards continues to grow presence in the CIS region and is pleased to see various political and economic developments in Central Asia.
