A team from Sherrards recently travelled to Prague to attend the EMEA Regional Conference of the firm’s international alliance of independent accounting and law firms, Alliott Group. Themed ‘Building a Future-Proof Professional Firm’, the conference provided insights into how to become a more powerful, trusted resource for clients in a world rich with opportunities but also facing significant challenges.
A record 93 delegates, including Paul Marmor, Jean Paul DaCosta, Alasdair McMillin and Andrew Cooke from Sherrards, attended Alliott Group’s 2018 EMEA Regional Conference in Prague in May which covered a range of business improvement topics such as leadership, talent management and marketing, but also the latest international developments in tax, the law and regulatory issues.
The Sherrards team returned from the conference not only with stronger personal relationships with their professional counterparts in different cities across the world, but also with strategies and insights into how Sherrards can:
- Capitalise on the unique value proposition we offer local companies and private individuals who want a ‘one-stop-shop’ approach for professional advice across different countries
- Truly partner with clients, providing advisory services that show a real understanding of their business
- Compete to attract the best local talent and future-proof our business and our clients’
- Contribute to our clients’ business success and be the source of new ideas
- Continue to develop specialist niches to anticipate and meet the needs of our clients
- Embrace technology to increase transparency, efficiency and service levels for our clients.
With the deadline for compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) fixed for 25 May 2018, our team acquired vital information from expert consultants on how to advise business clients on the practicalities involved in being ready for GDPR. Significant changes to the US tax system were also outlined by our US colleagues and contextualised for those clients who have operations, investments or property held in the US.
With the team contributing to specialist meetings of the International Tax, Legal, M&A, Global Mobility and Private Wealth groups, Sherrads is in a prime position to source specialist expertise wherever in the world it is needed by our clients.
Alasdair McMillin, Managing Partner, comments: “Participation in international conferences enables Sherrards to advise more effectively our clients who are doing business internationally. Our investment in sending people to alliance events ensures that Sherrards is taking steps to future-proof the firm and the business of our clients.”
Paul Marmor, International Services Partner adds: “We have pushed ahead with an ambitious international development programme by establishing regional teams led by specialists with language and legal skills in relation to China, Russia & CIS, France and Germany. All have a strong focus on Brexit and how it will affect our clients.
