Standing room only as Paul Marmor hosted a keynote panel session at the International Bar Association conference in Rome. The top tier panel discussed the power of legal directories, how to leverage your position from your ranking and the development of the legal profession to a packed out room.
The panel included senior general counsel from Google EMEA and Shell, alongside David Burgess, Publishing Editor of the Legal 500, Melissa Davis of MD Communications, Dimitry Afanasiev, chairman of Egorov, Puginsky, Afanasiev & Partners, Moscow, and Paulo Farinha Alves of PLMJ, Lisbon.
The room was quite literally standing-room only, with hundreds of conference delegates attending the session. Paul Marmor is an officer of the IBA’s Law Firm Management Committee, made up of managing and senior partners of international firms from around the globe, and is responsible, alongside Professor Moray McLaren of the IE Business School, for the production of an international webinar programme, which has been attracting audiences from over 80 countries with real-time broadcasts.
Paul also spoke at the IBA’s Law Firm Management Committee’s Managing Partners’ Retreat, held over the weekend before the conference began, at Palazzo Del Drago, explaining the webinar programme and how it is working as an opportunity to reach out to the global legal community, often with participants from 80+ countries.
As to the IBA, it is one of the world’s most prestigious (if not the most prestigious) gatherings of lawyers from all over the world, with over 7,000 attending this year’s annual conference in Rome. The conference includes plenary sessions on topics ranging from multi-jurisdictional litigation and injunctions to developments in the world of M&A, to law firm management know-how.
Through Sherrards’ membership of the IBA, and also our involvement in an international alliance of law and accountancy firms known as the Alliott Group, the firm has access to lawyers in just about every jurisdiction, and we know them well.
