Despite the torrential rain, team Sherrards turned up in force to support Rennie Grove and take part in the Herts 10k on Sunday 14 October. The team included Leigh Head, Mark Fellows, Joanne Perry, Ben Walters, Leigh Ecclestone, Ann Turnball, Melissa Menelaou and Paul Marmor. This is the 5th year running Sherrards have taken part in the race and it never fails to create a good team spirit as well as some healthy competition! The challenging course starts and finishes at Rothamsted Research in Harpenden and is full of difficult terrain, including the ‘dreaded hill’ 3 miles into the course. The weather didn’t dampen spirits as many still turned out to support the event and the marshals did a fantastic motivating all the runners.
The Herts 10k, sponsored by Levy Associates, is Rennie Grove’s flagship event and attracts up to 2,000 runners and walkers of all abilities, ranging from novices to experienced athletes. The charity provides services to support local patients diagnosed with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, and events like the Herts 10k are vital part to help them raise the annual £7.6 million needed to keep the service in operation and to meet growing demand.
