Laurel (Xueying) Zhang heads up the firm’s China and Asia team.
Laurel Zhang epitomizes the modern Chinese lawyer. Qualified in the UK after growing up and studying in Beijing, she speaks fluent Mandarin and English.
Her reputation as a ‘go to’ lawyer for Chinese companies with ambitions to succeed abroad is a result of her relentless travelling back and forth to China.
She acts as a bridge between China and the UK and is regularly asked to travel to China with UK Department of International Trade, the Chinese British Business Council and clients to help build understanding and trust.
Her energy and drive on these trips often see hers travelling from the UK to China and then embarking on a road trip presenting at investor conferences and meeting potential clients and contacts from dawn till dusk.
Laurel continues to lead the firm’s focus on developing a Chinese client base investing in the UK and Europe. Laurel has been instrumental in introducing a number of leading Chinese companies to Sherrards including OFO, the world’s first ‘non-docking’ bike sharing company, Bauing Construction Group from Shenzhen, Youtong Buses, the largest bus manufacturer in the world and Novogene, a leading provider of genomic services.
